Everything depends on the sun & photosynthesis & ..! So just how far back do you take the " it depends" approach to answering Q's in philosophy? All the way back to the Big Bang? to God? Is that reaaally helpful?

like if you say "who am i" well that narrows the answer down big time - we know the answer won't start with 'because' for example....

so yea... that's why it depends on the question....

once a specific question is asked, then you can look for what it depends on.

from a pragmatic sense, it's not helpful. from other perspective, it is useful.

humans likes to explain things around him with minimal ideas taken for granted, because the more things you take for granted, the more likely the philosophy will fail. so it's important to explain things all the way back to the first cause or a small list of things taken for granted. that way it's simple in our heads to comprehend and to understand things from the first cause. common first cause is god, from god you get the world. other common first cause that form on the basis of science is naive realism or rationalism. from it, you get the world around us. you don't want 10 million first causes because that's too complex. so people study the relationships to help us understand and try to take it back to first cause. for formal explanation, it is necessary to take it all the way back to the first cause.
