How is an "experience" related to an "occasion"?
An occasion is an event in one's "life story." It is distinct from an experience because an experience may or may not have a story attached to it.
For example, "on the occasion of my brother's wedding," describes the story of an occasion by giving it context, a back story. "On this occasion I experienced a migraine." A migraine is not an occasion, but it IS an experience.
The way one "rises" to an occasion, is by trying to best express your values in response to the experience an occasion subjects you to.
