Seems like you are talking about the Bush administration and their continued tirate about WMD in whipping up support for their agenda. When the Real Dire Consequences are going to be down the road yet when we leave Iraq and Iran invades via their Islamic religious takeover that will sweep through Iraq and align itself with Iran.
The real threat all along has been religious alignment not WMD. Establishment of another radical Islamic state will be the primary cause of future problems in the middle east and the future interuptions of oil from those countries.
